SYNOPSIS:
In the all-new Kite Shop Mystery series set in the beachside community of Rock Point, Oregon, kite shop owner Emmy Adler gets swept up in a murder investigation.
Emmy is finally living her dream. She’s moved to the coastal town of Rock Point, Oregon, and is starting a kite business. Strings Attached features her own unique designs, inspired by everything from Picasso to Matisse’s colorful cutouts. Her spirits are soaring sky-high the morning of the grand opening—until she stumbles upon a dead man washed up on the beach.
The body belongs to local chef Miles Logan, and the gash across his chest indicates he’s been murdered. The sheriff suspects Emmy’s best friend, Avery, who used to date the chef. Emmy is sure Avery would never hurt anyone, but her pal doesn’t have an alibi for the night of the murder. With Avery’s freedom and the fate of her kite shop up in the air, Emmy takes it upon herself to follow the string of clues and solve the murder before the real killer takes flight.

With spring, hopefully just around the corner in many parts of the country, author Clover Tate has created the perfect new series to captured that excitement.
BLOWN AWAY, the first installment in Tate’s whimsical new Kite Shop Mystery series is an exciting start. The seaside setting of Rock Point, Oregon, comes to life through the author’s vivid descriptions. Through the author’s eye for details, readers can easily visualize colorful kites zigzagging in the sky.
Emmy Adler is an intriguing protagonist readers can effortlessly identify with. Strong and determined, dedicated to her family and friends, Emmy still has her flaws and a vulnerable side. The secondary cast of witty characters add depth to the story.
BLOWN AWAY is entertaining and quickly draws reads in. Moving at a good pace, the story has twists and turns to keep you guessing. The small-town setting, zany characters, and a carefree feeling of relaxation (despite the murder) makes this a fun book you won’t be able to put down until the last sentence has been read. A great start to an amazing new series.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Do you enjoy flying kites? When was the last time you flew a kite?
I never could fly a kite but I love watching those who can. Sounds like a fun read on a dreary MN winter day.
ReplyDeleteThe late time I flew a kit was as a kid; I would try flying a kit now.
ReplyDeleteFun setting. I haven't flown a kite since I was a kid either.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought of a kit shop as the setting for a series, but it sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing, Mason.
ReplyDeleteA perfect blog to get lost in. I've enjoyed my visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place for a mystery series. Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast has a place called Catch the Wind, a world-famous kite shop. That was always the first stop for us so we could see what exotic kites they were flying that day. I never bought a kite but I still have several beach Frizbees.
ReplyDeleteI love a good mystery, and one that includes kites is even better, how FUN!
ReplyDeleteLast summer was the first time in 50 years that i flew a kite. My grandson loved it. My husband bought a kite and we had a great time at the beach.
ReplyDeleteI've never flown a kite but it looks like fun! Thank you for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love kites and kite shops. I was in San Diego for a kite festival, and I could imagine the mastery of the construction. As a teacher, I had the kids make geometric kites with straw and tissue paper. That was a wild time!
ReplyDeleteI love Oregon -- I like reading about places I've visited or would like to visit.

I had forgotten just how elaborate and beautiful kites could be. I never had much luck flying one as a child.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good series. I always like to start at the beginning.
