The Christmas Cat by Melody Carlson

The Christmas Cat by Melody Carlson coverCat lovers will adore THE CHRISTMAS CAT by Melody Carlson and non-cat lovers may have a change of heart.

This is a heartwarming story that deals with a man’s love for his grandmother and her faith he will find his right path in life.

After returning from a nine year missionary trip to Uganda and a bout with malaria, Garrison Brown feels guilty for not visiting his grandmother more when he learns she has died. Meeting with her attorney, Garrison discovers his grandmother has an unusual request for him – find homes for her six cats. But there are some strict guidelines for placing the cats. To make matters worse, Garrison is allergic to cats.

The process of placing the cats takes Garrison on his own journey reconnecting with friends in his old neighborhood. Along the way Garrison also discovers new things about his grandmother and himself.

The author quickly pulls readers in with this inspiring story. She blends family, faith and caring with bits of humor and a touch of romance for a well-balanced story. The characters are realistic, likable and well-developed.

The setting is warm and inviting. The Christmas element enhances the story adding another layer to hold readers captive.

THE CHRISTMAS CAT is inspiring, touching and just an all-round feel-good tale that’s perfect for a holiday read.

  1. I am decidedly a cat person. At the moment we share our lives with Jazz n Jewel - two black rescue cats. Jazz's heart is a black as his coat. He is the psycho cat from hell - and very cute with it. One of his 'best tricks' is to hook his claws into my butt and then take his hind feet off the ground. He is at least twice as big as Jewel and three times as mean. And very beautiful. He needs to be. And both of them are in their forever home.

  3. Six cats and he's allergic? That's irony. Yeah, sounds like it will be a heart-tugger.

  4. Oh! I'm a cat person. Have two right now, Rocko & Spunky. (Before that was Calvin & Hobbes.)

The book sounds wonderful. If he's coming back from a missionary trip, does that mean it's a Christian book?

  9. i decided to buy this one not because i am a cat person but because it is about a younger generation loving and respecting an older generation. sometimes as part of the older generation i think i can't make a difference anymore..this is a story of someone that does and to a very important person in her life.
