Snow White Red-Handed {+ Giveaway}

Snow White Red Handed coverIt’s always fun finding a new series and being able to share it with y’all makes it even better.

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on author Maia Chance’s new release, SNOW WHITE RED-HANDED, the first installment in her Fairy Tale Fatal Mystery series. Thanks to the lovely Danielle at Penguin Group, I have a copy of this new cozy to giveaway. Please see the end of the post for giveaway details.

SNOW WHITE RED-HANDED by Maia Chance

Blending fairy tales and mystery, author Maia Chance has created a new series that will have cozy mystery readers looking at their favorite childhood stories in a whole new light.

The setting is 1867 and Victorian actress Ophelia Flax works her charm to get a lady’s maid position with an obtuse American millionaire. Arriving at a foreboding castle in the haunted Black Forest, Ophelia isn’t sure what she’s gotten herself into.

It seems the grounds may contain the remains of Snow White’s cottage, as well as a dwarf skeleton. Things get even worse when her boss is murdered by a poisoned apple. With the help of a mysterious scholar, Ophelia is determined to crack the killer’s spell before another victim is claimed.

The flow and rhyme of the story quickly draws you in. The setting, described in vivid details, will transports you to a different time and place. The surroundings encircles the reader making them feel a part of the story.

Chance offers readers a vast array of entertaining characters from the charming to the villainous. The protagonist Ophelia is a delight. She’s adventurous, loyal to her friends, strong and independent, but with vulnerable aspects.

SNOW WHITE RED-HANDED is an enchanting story and the beginning of what promises to be a fascinating new series. When this author spins a fairy tale, she’ll keep you guessing until the very end.

  3. Poisoned apple and a dwarf skeleton - that is original all right. And with all the fairy tales out there, this could be a really long series.

  9. Snow White is one of my favorite fairy tales. I think both Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel could make good cozies as there is plenty of dark with the light. Thanks!
