Are you ready for another work week? And how is your reading/writing schedule going?
Another week has come and gone and it’s time for two of my favorites to start the work week off.
It's Monday! What are you reading this week? is a weekly event hosted by J. Kaye of J. Kaye's Book Blog to list the books completed last week, the books currently being read, and the books to be finished this week.
I’m still not making much progress on my stack of books to be read. Life tends to have a way of intervening. You would think with cold temperatures and snow that there would be spare time to read - didn’t happen. But here’s my list:
Books I finished last week:
Corrigan‘s Pool by Dot Ryan (Check back Friday, Jan. 15, for a review of this interesting book set at the beginning of the Civil War.)
Currently Reading:
Girl with Skirt of Stars by Jennifer Kitchen
Regression by Kathy Bell
The Solomon Effect by C.S. Graham
The Bone Chamber by Robin Burcell
Books to Finish this Week:
The Bone Chamber by Robin Burcell
The Solomon Effect by C.S. Graham
Today marks the end of the sixth week of ReBooWee, a challenge to read at least one book a week. There is only three weeks left to this initial challenge which is being hosted by Kerri at The-Writing-Bug
Participants are asked to sign up and then each week follow up with their progress. In doing so, participants are also asked if they finished a book, what did they read and can they share one sentence about the book or how the book effected them.
It’s a fun challenge.
Check out The-Writing-Bug blog today to see what books the other participants have read and what sentences and thoughts are posted in regards to the books read.
Did the weather interfere with your reading/writing schedule this past week? Is there a better season of the year in which you enjoy reading?
*You're* not making progress? Ha. I'm still on the same book! At least now I know its name--"Faces of the Gone". :)

Mystery Writing is Murder
Mystery Lovers’ Kitchen
I'm back logged on my reading. Been editing 3 books for authors and pressed with some pub deadlines. But I got a wonderful TBR stack waiting for me.
ReplyDeleteMarvin D Wilson
I actually got to read more this week, but like TOS I have so many books waiting on me.
ReplyDeleteMason - I wish I had the time to read as much as I want to! This week, I'm re-reading Thomas Scortia and Frank Robinson's The Nightmare Factor. It's an interesting medical thriller from the days before Robin Cook...
ReplyDeleteCorrigan's Pool sounds interesting. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, if you'll notice I have a couple of books in my reading list that have been there awhile. It's not that I don't like them, other things just happen and I can't seem to get to them.
ReplyDeleteMarvin, sounds like you've been extremely busy. The editing would be enough for me.
Teresa, I had good intentions to read more but this silly winter weather got in the way. Oh I want summer.
Margot, I've heard of "The Nightmare Factor," but I haven't read it. It sound very interesting.
Mary, hope you have a good week too. Corrigan's Pool is good.
I like to read anytime, but I think my favorite time is on the patio in summer. Now I'm reading one of Suzanne Brockmann's SEAL Team books.
ReplyDeleteAnother one who can read more than one book at a time! I love it! Hope you have a great week! :D
ReplyDeletewow, you can read 4 books at one time? I can't, but I can read 4 books in a week.
ReplyDeleteI have The Bone Chamber on my reading shelf and can't wait to start that one.
Have a good Monday.
Carol, I enjoy reading outside. I guess I'm less distracted. You're book sounds good.
ReplyDeleteRuth, I try to read more than one but sometimes it doesn't happen. Have a great week too.
Dru, I have books in different places I read on and one that I take with me to finish. You'll have to be sure and check on Jan. 21 as Robin Burcell will be guest blogging here. Good Monday to you.
I am just beginning Corrigan's Pool. Happy reading. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/01/what-are-you-reading-monday-11-january.html
ReplyDeleteJennifer, enjoy Corrigan's Pool. It's a very interesting read and lots of ups and downs. Good reading to you.
ReplyDeleteAs a freelance editor, I'm constantly reading books, just not for fun. My pleasure reading has slowed considerably, but the one I'm reading now is Promises to Keep by DL Larson.

Straight From Hel
Helen, "Promises to Keep" sounds interesting. I can see where you won't have a great deal of time to just read for fun.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did - what a wonderful story!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Still Alice by Lisa Genova, and Woman in Red by Eileen Goudge. Both are the kinds of books I shouldn't have picked up without knowing I'd have large uninterruped chunks of time to read - they're both hard to put down.
I'm reading the second-to-latest Diana Gabaldon tome. Great fun.
ReplyDeleteElspeth
Ingrid, from what I've read about Woman in Red it would be hard to put down. I can't remember reading anything on Still Alice but the title is catchy.
ReplyDeleteElspeth, I haven't read any of those yet. I understand they are quite good. I'll have to check them out.
I'm currently reading The First Excellence by Donna Carrick - another blogger buddy. Great read :)
ReplyDeleteJemi, sounds interesting. I'll have to be sure and check it out.
ReplyDeleteStarted "Stand-In Groom" this morning, for a quick change of pace. Last couple of weeks I read "Fatally Flaky", "Locked In", "U is for Undertow", "Dead Run", "Snow Blind" and "Deeper Than the Dead."
ReplyDeleteNext up I have the the 1st 3 of Barry Eisler's "Rain" series, and two of Karin Tabke's "Masters of..." series.
Terry, Wow wish I could keep up with you reading. I enjoyed "Fatally Flaky." "Deeper Than the Dead" sounds interesting. If I could just get through my list, then I'd add more but I'll probably add more anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteLove reading more than one book at a time. :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your stack this week.
J. Kaye, hope you have fun this week too. I know you always have a stack of books to read. I can't keep up with you.
