How’s Your Day Going?

Can you believe that February is almost over and that we’re getting closer to spring?

It’s hard to believe with this crazy winter weather we’re having. One day we have snow and the next the sun is out the temperatures feel like spring and then the snow comes back.

Cold weather is always a good time to put puzzles together so I’m sharing a puzzle for your enjoyment. Hopefully this will give you a chance to relax a few minutes and recharge for the week ahead.

The average time on this puzzle is 4 minutes, 16 seconds. My time was 4 minutes, 34 seconds. I just couldn’t seem to get things to move where I wanted them.

I like all the different color hats. Can you image who would wear the hats and what they would be doing? There’s a story behind these hats. What do you think it is?

Hope you’re having a great day. Thanks for stopping by today. Have you tried the puzzle yet? What’s your time?

A Promise Of Spring

flower bud

I should be sharing book reviews with you today, but I had to share this little bud instead. It poked it’s tiny body through the leaves just in time for the coldest days we’ve had. Our temperatures are dipping to the low 20s tonight and highs the next few days are expected only in the upper 30s, maybe 40s.

That’s the way of buttercups though. They peak through during the bleak and cold to give us a hint that spring is in our future. We just have to have patience.

Here’s wishing you patience in whatever you’re doing today. May there be a bud of hope in your day’s journey to remind you of the promise at the end. Thanks so much, as always for stopping by.

Is It Spring Yet?

Has Spring finally arrived where you live or does ‘Old Man Winter’ still have a hold on the weather with his icy fingers?

According to the calendar, it’s spring here in Northwest Georgia. However, the calendar and the weather don’t seem to be on the same page. We have had a few days of sunshine and even some temperatures in the upper 70s. I believe one day we reach 80 degrees for several hours.

But that didn’t last long. This past week we’ve had rain, thunderstorms, hail, heavy winds, and when it wasn’t raining, it was mostly overcast. The temperatures have been in the 40s and 50s during the day and down to the middle to low 30s at night.

Dogwood Blossom

I guess this is what the old timers call ‘blackberry winter’ though I don’t think I’ve seen any blackberries blooming yet. I’m not sure why it’s called ‘blackberry winter’ except usually about the time wild blackberries bloom, we have another cold snap.

The few days of warm weather that we did have helped a few things to start blooming and budding. The Dogwood trees are just beginning to bud out, with some that have had the right amount of sun already blooming. All should be in full bloom by Easter Sunday, April 24.

The pine trees are also budding and putting on new pine burrs. One

good thing about the rain is it helped wash away some of the pollen.

Another advantage of the cold, rainy weather - it keeps you indoors. It has been some ideal weather for reading. When the sun is out I can’t help but want to be outside working with my roses or herbs. That cuts down on my book reading, unless I have a good audio book to listen to while I work.

What about you, when do you enjoy reading the most? Does the weather effect your reading? Do you enjoy reading indoors or out more? Be sure to check back tomorrow for Sunday Salon and a review of MOURNING GLORIA, the newest cozy mystery from Susan Wittig Albert.

Spring Has Sprung, Or Has It?

Does spring make you feel giddy or lazy and relaxed?

The temperatures here in Georgia have finally reached the upper 70s. Yesterday, in fact, the temperature even reached 80 degrees and despite the fact the sky was overcast for most of the day - it was a wonderful day. It feels like spring is in the air and the calendar says it's spring. However, cold weather may not be over yet.

Every year when warm weather begins, I can't wait to start planting flowers and herbs. Then we have another freeze and I lose what I've planted. We've even had snow on April 1 (no joke). This year I'm trying to remind myself that I need to wait until at least mid April before I start buying up herb plants. I can begin to get my flower beds ready and decide where I what to put my herbs this year. We're also working to get the vegetable garden ready to start planting.

Are you feeling the pull of spring? Can you plants flowers already or do you need to wait too?
