Depending on what part of the world you live in, many are celebrating Mother’s Day today (Sunday, May 13, 2012). If you are -- HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
Whether you’re a mother or not (and the four-legged, furry children do count), I’d like to share this rose with you in celebration of what I think Mother’s Day stands for. This is for the endless love, care and devotion the females of the world give to others - not just their children.
While this is not a perfect rose, we are not a perfect people. We each have our own flaws and quirky ways. But no matter how the rose (or we) look, it (and we) are still a beautiful creation. People, like the grasshopper, just have to take a closer look at us and see what we are truly like on the inside for our beauty to shine.
For those of you whose mothers are still living, I encourage you to visit with them today even if it’s just a quick phone call to say hi. For those of you like me whose mothers are no longer living, take time today to recall a fun memory or enjoy an activity that you did together. For me, I’m taking some time to relax and enjoy a good book because I got my love of reading (and collecting books) from my mother.
So, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Mother’s Day. May you create memories today that will transform into smiles later in life. And as always, thanks for stopping by.
Lovely post. Catching up on your site. The water lily is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSharon Tate story. I have vague recollections of that tragedy.
Hi Mason - what a beautiful picture .. yet the post says so much - women of this world carry so much hope for all mankind.
ReplyDeleteGreat sentiments for all of us - I shall visit my mother .. she may wake or not - our Mother's Day is earlier in the year .. but I shall follow your footsteps.
With happy thoughts for today Mason .. cheers Hilary
What a beautiful post, Mason! My mother is no longer alive, and I love your idea of honoring her memory by doing something we loved to do together. Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute. Our mothers mean so much whether they are with us or not.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Mason - Thanks for the beautiful 'photo, the lovely thought and the good wishes! Happy Mother's Day to you, too :-).
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! Happy Mothers Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mason and Happy Mother's Day to you and to David Nunn's mom.
ReplyDeleteI just voted for him for the last time today. I was happy to help but I would like to say how difficult it was for me, every time I went to the site, to look at all the pictures of the persons needing this kind of transport. Mobility awareness was a good title and I will be more aware of those needs in my surrounding.
It's true that the mother's heart opens to more than to her children.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, lovely post, Mason! I'm lucky enough to have my mom and my mom-in-law - and I had the whole gang over today for a couple of meals. Lots of fun. Have a wonderful day! :)
