DARK CHOCOLATE FOR THE JOURNALER’S SOUL by Mari L. McCarthy

Seeing chocolate in the title lead me to be a part of author Mari L. McCarthy’s WOW! Women on Writing Virtual Blog Tour with her eBook DARK CHOCOLATE FOR THE JOURNALER’S SOUL.

The author stopped by Thoughts in Progress on Dec. 14 talking about journaling and offering a great giveaway. There’s still time to enter, be sure and check it out.

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the 51-page eBook compiling the journaling journeys of 17 journalers who have shared their stories on Create Write Now's Journal Writing Transforms You blog.

Dark_ChocolateSometimes the only way to release emotions bottled up inside is to write those feelings and thoughts down.

Author Mari L. McCarthy shows wonderful examples of this in her book, DARK CHOCOLATE FOR THE JOURNALER’S SOUL, 17 PERSONAL JOURNALING STORIES FOR HEALING & GROWTH. The book is a collection of stories from 17 different perspectives on how journaling helped in various ways.

As individual and unique as we are, so is our method of journaling and what it does for us. DARK CHOCOLATE shows that the simple step of writing down your thoughts and emotions helps heal in so many ways.

One writer tells of keeping a journal through the hardiest and happiest times of her life. She mentions how her journals themselves have changed throughout the 15 years she’s been writing her thoughts down.

Another writer tells how she has dabbled in keeping a journal throughout the years. She explains she typically wrote when significant events occurred. This is one I can related to as in previous years when I tried journaling it was usually to take note when some major event happened.

Other writers keep journals of events, thoughts and information that they want to pass along to future generations.

A short bio page about each contributor is included, along with their response to four questions about their journaling experience. DARK CHOCOLATE concludes with helpful tips to assist new journalers on their journey and inspire new life into existing journalers.

FTC Full Disclosure - This eBook was sent to me by the author as part of a blog tour in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Do you keep a journal? If so, do you write your thoughts down on paper or keep them on your computer? Thanks so much for stopping by today.

  1. Mason - Thanks for sharing this book. I honestly don't keep a journal, although I did at one point. It can definitely be a good way to focus and release things that are going on in one's life. And I'm sure this collection of authors' experiences must be fascinating. Thanks for letting us know about it.
