Safe Harbor by Sherryl Woods

Safe Harbor coverMisunderstandings about the goings-on in the Harrington Mansion lead to some humorous twists and turns in SAFE HARBOR by Sherryl Woods.

Narrator Tanya Eby does a wonderful job giving distinct voices to the numerous characters of various ages. Her varied inflections brings out the depth of the emotions the characters are dealing with.

Young, wealthy widow Tina Harrington is busy running her late husband’s company. The only family she has is the mix-match of homeless people she’s welcomed into her home and her heart.

The handsome, new noisy neighbor Drew Landry is afraid the elderly people living next door are being taken advantage of. Determined to help, he shares his suspensions with the local authorities.

Just as the wheels of justice are beginning to move, Drew discovers the elderly residents are loved and well cared for by Tina, who in turn is cared for by them. Drew and Tina work together to prove to the authorities that all is well in the Harrington household as their attraction for one another grows.

When a sudden takeover attempt appears to be on the horizon for Tina’s company, it looks like Drew may be the one behind it. Despite falling in love, Tina fears she’s about to lose everything she holds dear. It seems Drew’s attraction may have been for her company and not her after all.

Woods does an excellent job taking readers/listeners on a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout this story. It’s filled with humor, love, loyalty, fear, suspense, and uncertainty. The characters are likable and well-developed and exhibit traits and fears readers/listeners can relate to.

SAFE HARBOR is a feel-good story that will keep you wondering who the good guys are while you’re laughing at the antics of the residents of Harrington Mansion. There also a nice touch of romance to round out the story.

Wildflower Wedding by LuAnn McLane

Wildflower Wedding coverSometimes you just need a light-hearted, feel-good story to lift your spirits. Author LuAnn McLane’s latest release, WILDFLOWER WEDDING, is a well-blended romance that will brighten your mood in no time.

Gabby Goodwin has a successful flower ship in Cricket Creek, KY, and making it fine on her own. However, she feels like she still has a lot to prove since she grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. When Reese Marino, who also grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, shows back up in town, Gabby has a hard time remembering she was hoping the cute mayor would ask her out.

Having a ‘bad boy’ rep in high school, Reese had a lot to overcome. Back in town to operate a new pizza parlor with his uncle, Reese is determined to prove to Gabby he’s changed.

The back and forth tug these two characters feel makes for an entertaining and whimsical read. The author has given the characters worries and doubt readers can relate to. She has blended the problems with bits of humor and steamy romance for a well-balanced story.

The setting is a small town with its quirky residents and family-feel atmosphere. The author’s rich descriptions brings the town and its people to life.

With a couple of sub-plots mingled in, WILDFLOWER WEDDING is a charming story that will inspire you to dream. The sixth installment in the Cricket Creek series, this book can be read on its own.

WILDFLOWER WEDDING is a delightful read that will bring a smile to your face.
