When Calls the Heart: Change of Heart

When Calls the Heart Change of Heart cover Thoughts in ProgressThe title says it all in this latest DVD release from the Hallmark Channel series inspired by the bestselling books of Janette Oke – WHEN CALLS THE HEART: CHANGE OF HEART.

Mounty Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) is dedicated to his career and believed there was little room for romance. But little by little the local school teacher, Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), has become a factor in his life.

Just as Jack finally asks Elizabeth out on a real date (and she accepts), Elizabeth’s sister, Julie (Charlotte Hegele), arrives in Coal Valley. Jack gets the biggest surprise when Julie is accompanied by Mounty Patrick O’Reilly (Ken Tremblett), his replacement. Jack had forgotten he requested a transfer his first week in Coal Valley. Torn between his duty and his increasing feelings for Elizabeth, Jack must make a hard decision.

Meanwhile, Julie encounters an injured man near town. Julie believes she is helping him get away from his outlaw brother when he is in fact the outlaw leader. In addition, Abigail (Lori Loughlin) uncovers information about the mine disaster that could also tarnish her late husband’s reputation. As trouble and danger ensues, Jack and Elizabeth have to deal with issues at hand along with their change of heart toward each other.

This is a heartwarming story that the entire family can watch together. It combines friendship, family values, humor and a touch of romance.

The setting of Coal Valley and the era portrayed takes the viewer to a simpler, but difficult way of life. The characters are realistic and likable with the actors bringing them to life with excellent performances.

Watching WHEN CALLS THE HEART: CHANGE OF HEART will tug on your heart strings and hold you spellbound wondering what will happen next. This is a charming story to share with everyone.

Sunday Salon: Happy Father’s Day and The Confession

This Sunday Salon brings us to Father’s Day, past the midway point of the month and closing in on the Summer Solstice. As always, it also brings us to a time to discuss the books we’ve read, exchange thoughtsartwork on the ones we’ve discovered and find more new ones to add to our growing list of ‘To Be Read.’

First, I’d like to wish all the dads out there a ‘HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.’ May it be a day of relaxing and enjoying life.

Now instead of discussing books today, I have a DVD I’d like to share my thoughts on. The movie is based on a book. Since I’ve not read the book, my thoughts are related only to the movie. The movie was broadcast on the Hallmark Channel last month and was released on DVD last week.

Based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author Beverly Lewis, THE CONFESSION is a feel-good movie blended with moments of sadness, romance, inspiration and hope. Directed by Michael Landon Jr., the movie deals with trust, deceit, forgiveness, family, and love.

The movie, starring Sherry Stringfield (TV’s ER) and Katie Leclerc (TV’s Switched at Birth), is a sequel to the Hallmark Channel’s movie,The-Confession Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning. It’s based on the second novel of “The Heritage of Lancaster County” trilogy by Lewis. The movie also stars Bill Oberst Jr., Cameron Deane Stewart, Julia Whelan, and Adrian Paul.

Leclerc plays Katie Lapp, a young Amish woman, who is searching for her birth mother, an Englisher who gave her up for adoption 20 years earlier. Stringfield plays Lapp’s mother, Laura Mayfield-Bennett. Problems arise when Lapp finds her mother only to discover someone else is claiming to be her daughter.

Lapp is determined to connect with her mother, who is dying, on any level so she begins working in the Mayfield-Bennett household. It’s soon discovered who put the young woman up to the scheme and why. In time the scheme to steal her inheritance is revealed and lives change forever.

THE CONFESSION is charming saga filled with hope and compassion. The actors portraying the characters do an excellent job. It’s a delightful movie the entire family can enjoy.

Not having seen the first movie nor read the books, I was a bit lost at first where the story begins. But over time, bits of background information are filled in making the story flow smoothly. The ending concluded with a promise of more to come.

THE CONFESSION has a run time of approximately 88 minutes and isn’t rated. The film was produced by David R. Kappes and executive produced by Brian Bird, Maura Dunbar and Michael Landon Jr. The movie debuted on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and AFFIRM Films/Provident Films.

FTC Full Disclosure - I received this DVD from Edify Media in hopes I would review it. However, receiving this complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and safe Father’s Day. I’ll leave you with the trailer from THE CONFESSION to entice you to see more.
