I’m delighted to welcome author Adrianne
Lee back to Thoughts in Progress once again for the Launch Day Blitz for
DELICIOUS,
the second installment in her Big Sky Pie series.
DELICIOUS hits
bookshelves today in the form of Mass Market Paperback.
Here’s a brief
synopsis:
Workaholic Nick
Taziano is the proud owner of a successful marketing company in Montana. But his
career takes a backseat when he learns his dad plans to remarry his ex. Nick
fears she'll break his heart . . . again. And he doesn't like being reunited
with her obnoxious daughter-until the all-grown-up beauty kisses him at the
engagement party. The kiss might be a mistake, but once he tastes Jane's lips,
nothing-not even her famous blueberry pie-compares.
A promising chef at Big
Sky Pie, Jane Wilson never, ever wanted to see Nick Taziano again, but he's just
been hired to do the pie shop's marketing. How's a girl supposed to bake the
best pastries in town when he's a constant reminder of their steamy chemistry?
His chocolate eyes and sexy dimples heat up the kitchen-and every part of her
body. Jane has no room for a man in her life, yet sometimes the most delicious
dishes don't follow the recipe . . .
This is another installment in the laugh-a-minute
series that will have you craving scrumptious pies as you fall in love all over
again with the characters from Adrianne’s Big Sky Pie stories.

EXCERPT …
Now here’s an excerpt from DELICIOUS
for your reading pleasure.
Andrea hadn’t really asked for
more whipped cream, but Jane figured she’d better bring some with her just in
case BiBi was still in the kitchen when she returned. Although she hoped her
assistant would be gone by then. The chill air brushed her bare arms as she
stepped deep into the room and started walking to the Sub-Zero. A creak sounded
behind her. She spun to see the door closing.
Jane swore. The music and crowd
noise was barely discernible thanks to triple insulated walls, but it was too
cold to be in here for more than a couple of minutes in a sleeveless sundress,
apron, and sandals. She grabbed a container of Reddi-wip from the Sub-Zero and
hurried to the door. The knob wouldn’t turn. She tried again. It was locked. Was
this a joke? Recalling BiBi’s mean girl comment, she decided it might not be.
She banged on the door. “This isn’t funny, BiBi. Let me out! BiBi!”
BiBi didn’t answer. And Jane
realized that no one would hear her over the music and voices or through the
soundproof walls. It wasn’t so cold she would freeze to death. It wasn’t so
airtight she’d lose oxygen, but she was stuck here until someone realized she
was missing or came looking for her. She gave the door a couple of good whacks,
then hugged herself against the cold as a tear rolled down her cheek.
She turned back toward the room
and saw the Devil standing there, looking as annoyed as she felt. Her heart
almost stopped. “Why didn’t you tell me you were here?”
“I didn’t want to startle
you.”
“Too late.” Her heart was
thudding beneath her hand pressed to her chest.
He seemed to notice the tears on
her cheeks. He set his camera equipment on a shelf and started toward her. “Ah,
don’t cry, Pain. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
“Did you lock this
door?”
“Me? Hell no. I was near the
back wall photographing some fresh strawberry and cherry flats for the
blog.”
“Swear on your father’s
life?”
He looked as though her request
was ludicrous. “Seriously, why would I lock us in here? Oh my God, you’re
shivering.” Nick tugged off his white dress shirt and draped it over her bare
shoulders.
His body heat lingered in the
shirt, along with his citrusy scent. Jane hugged the shirt to her, her gaze
fixed on his bare chest. She shivered. Nick seemed to mistake it for the cold.
She let him reach for her, pull her into his arms, and dry her tears. The
yearning she couldn’t deny filled her so full that she thought she’d
explode.
“Oh, God, Jane, don’t look at me
like that…please…or I won’t be responsible—” He swallowed hard and tried to
release her, but her mouth found its way to his…
“Is like knowing what pie
is-a your favorite, Nicola. The taste, she lingers on-a your tongue long after
the last little bite is-a gone, and you can no wait until you have-a some more.
Then-a you know. Is the one.”
And Jane was the taste he’d
longed for, the one he couldn’t get over. His heart’s favorite flavor. His body
knew the second her lips met his, the kiss speaking to some primal part of his
being, telling him that this was the woman. His woman. His
mate.
Music seemed to surround them,
not the country beat the DJ was playing, but violins and harps, a love song as
enchanting as the ages. Nick felt swept up in it. Desire flared through him, a
wildfire, sizzling his blood, burning every thought that wasn’t Jane from his
mind. He swept her to him, his arms filled with her wonderful curves, his body
instantly hard and thrumming, his breath coming quick and sharp, like his
heartbeat.
He reached into her hair, and
soon, loosened pins fell through his fingers, the French braid unknotted, and
Jane’s satin curls bounced free, smelling like lilacs after a spring rain. The
chill in the room stole across his naked back like a cool breeze, and Nick
pulled Jane closer, fearing that she might be too cold still, but everywhere he
touched felt toasty, inviting him to touch more.
He couldn’t resist. His hand
slid beneath her filmy dress and up her sleek legs to snag on a flimsy bit of
silkiness, his fingers moving it aside to find the nest of dense, damp curls,
finding the center of her passion. She reacted with a soft, sweet squeal…his
name on her lips spiking his need higher, her hands on his back erasing all
memory of chilly air. He deepened their kiss, pleasuring her again, finding his
enjoyment linked with hers. The greater her bliss, the greater his.
Hmmmm, now did that tempt your reading taste buds?
Hope so. I can’t wait to see what else happens. Thanks so much for stopping by
today. Have you ever gotten locked in a walk-in cooler?

About DECADENT:
Contractor Wade Reynolds is having a tough year. His cherry farm went bust, and his construction clients threaten to unhinge what's left of his sanity. But Wade's passion for life heats up when he's hired to remodel a new storefront next to Big Sky Pie -and he falls for the red-hot, bad girl who's setting up her catering shop there.
Fresh off her own divorce, Roxy isn't looking for another relationship, just a spontaneous fling or three. Her contractor Wade looks as delicious as her specialty confections, but he's way too buttoned-up for a casual affair. Yet there's an ultra-sexy strength about him Roxy can't resist. What that man clearly needs is something decadent—like her...

Now for my thoughts on this charming book.
Author Adrianne Lee has a way of immersing her readers into her stories. She has accomplished that task once again with her latest release, DECADENT.
Lee has created a story so vivid readers will be transported to the charming town of Kalispell, Montana, and feel they know the town’s quirky residents like their own neighbors.
Chef Roxanne ‘Roxy’ Nash is returning to Kalispell to regroup after her divorce from Seahawks linebacker Ty Buckholtz. Roxy has lost her husband, her house, and most of all, her bistro. Not sure what’s next, Roxy returns home to get back on track before she tackles her next project.
Wade Reynolds has been a widower for four years, yet he’s not ready to find a new wife. A dark secret haunts him so that he feels guilty even dating. His life revolves around his teenage daughter and trying to get his contracting business up and going.
When Roxy and Wade almost collide on her first night back in town, sparks fly that neither are ready for. As their friends try to help, feelings and desires develop but their paths are set in different directions.
Lee does an excellent job creating realistic characters readers will adore. They are well-developed and easy for readers to relate to. The bantering and sexual tension between Roxy and Wade is heart-pounding. The mix of humor and steamy romance will leave you breathless.
The setting is a small town with a family-friendly atmosphere. Lee’s rich descriptions and eye for detail will have you smelling delicious aromas from the pie shop as you feel the cold Montana wind blow across your face.
DECADENT is a tantalizing romance filled with laughter, dreams and warm-your-heart goodness. From the opening paragraph to the last sentence, you’ll be captivated by this delightful (and yummy) story. Lee includes a Decadent Chocolate Meringue Pie recipe as an extra bonus.

It’s always fun to revisit a story that made you laugh and hope at the same time. DELECTABLE by Adrianne Lee is one of those books for me.
I’m delighted today to be participating in Adrianne’s virtual blog tour for the mass market paperback release of DELECTABLE. To celebrate this release I’m re-sharing my review of this delightful story and Adrianne is sharing an excerpt from the book. In addition, Adrianne is hosting an awesome tour-wide giveaway for a fabulous prize pack and thanks to the lovely Julie at Grand Central Publishing, I have one print copy of DELECTABLE to give to a lucky visitor. Please see the end of the post for all the giveaway details.
First, here’s a brief synopsis of DELECTABLE:
Montana real estate agent Quint McCoy will tell you that the most important thing is location, location, location. It's a lesson he learns all too well when he goes incommunicado for a four-week fishing trip to Alaska. While he's away, his mother Molly turns his office into the pie shop she has always dreamed of, Big Sky Pie. But that's not the only surprise in store for him.
On her way out of town, Callee McCoy only wants to say a fond farewell to her beloved mother-in-law. But Molly soon persuades Callee to stay and lend a hand at the new shop, even if it means heating up the kitchen with her soon-to-be ex. As Callee and Quint rediscover their recipe for love, they realize that some couples are so sinfully good together that one delectable taste is never enough . . .

Now here are my thoughts.
Combine a delicious homemade cherry pie with romance and you have DELECTABLE, the first installment in author Adrianne Lee’s new tantalizing Big Sky Pie Series.
After the sudden death of his father, Quint McCoy took his grief and regrets out on everyone, especially his wife, Callee. After a particular heated argument, he told her to divorce him and he took off for a month-long fishing trip to Alaska.
Returning home determined to put his life back on track, Quint discovers his mother has taken over his realty office and expanded Big Sky Pie, her soon-to-be open pie shop. He also finds Callee, but she’s there to return her wedding ring before heading to Seattle with their divorce final in a few days.
When Quint’s mother, Molly, collapses shortly after his return, it’s up to him and Callee to make sure her pie shop opens on schedule. Callee will do whatever it takes to keep Molly from getting upset, even if it means working alongside Quint for a few days.
As they work to keep the pie shop on schedule, the couple realizes all that they had and what they’re about to lose.
This is a charming story of family, friends and recapturing true love in a small town atmosphere. There’s a mixture of humor and sadness to balance for a well-developed story. The characters are realistic and likable. The secondary characters add flavor to the story.
Lee has a great start to a sizzling new series. Her eye for detail draws you in until you could swear you smell the aroma of pies baking. She weaves in a few twists along the way for a heart-pounding yummy read.
DELECTABLE is a quick, smooth read that will have you hungry for more. To entice your reading taste buds, Lee includes an excerpt from the next installment in the series.

To tempt your reading taste buds for this charming book, Adrianne shares this excerpt:
She wiped her hands on the chef coat and then gripped the handles of the marble rolling pin. They felt like ice against her hands, while Quint’s breathe felt like a summer breeze on the back of her neck. He said, “Okay, now start at the center and roll toward the edge, keeping the pressure even.”
She started, then inexplicably froze. His hands came down on hers as he leaned over her, their bodies spooned. Her heart began to race. His cheek touched hers, his mouth near her ear, his voice husky.
“Keep the pressure even. Like this. That’s right.”
He leaned into her and away from her with each extended roll, his body heat like a comforter she wanted to snuggle. She didn’t mean to nuzzle his head, but she did, and the next thing she knew...
“Oh, God, Callee,” Quint groaned, spinning her into his arms, his mouth finding hers, his body meeting hers. A fiery rain of irresistible sensations washed through her, burning away her resistance.
She kissed him with all the need she’d suppressed for months and months and tore at his chef’s coat as he tore at hers, their lips locked in an ever-deepening reunion. His hands were in her hair, hers were in his. He tasted of red wine and Thai food and smelled even better. Her sweater vanished, followed by her bra, and his shirt, his belt, his jeans. He pulled her naked torso to his, eliciting a gasp of pure pleasure at the ached-for feel of his body. Her nipples were rock hard against his chest, his arousal against her thighs.
She didn’t remember kicking off her boots, or her jeans, or her panties. Every breath, every touch, raised her higher and higher toward the heavens, and she didn’t want it to ever stop.
Quint swept the parchment paper, pie crust, flour, and rolling pin from the island. The ensuing crash brought Callee to her senses with a bang. Dear God, what was she doing? She shoved against Quint’s shoulders, tore her lips from his and pushed him away, panting. “No. No. I don’t want this.”
“Could’ve fooled me.” His words came out in a breathless rasp.
Callee gathered her clothes, tugging them on, humiliation and embarrassment scorching her insides. She glanced at the mess on the floor. It was just like their marriage. It had started out as something wonderful and ended up thrown away. She left him standing there, naked, aroused, and making no attempt to cover himself. He looked perplexed and angry and sexier than any of her memories.

As an extra bonus, Kate is sharing an excerpt from HOT AND BOTHERED:
“Tip your chin up—yeah, just like that.” Click. “Now lean forward, lemme see those puppies.”
“Lili,” came the slightly embarrassed reply. Jules.
“Come on, don’t be shy. You have an amazing figure and—oh, perfect. Hold that.” Click.
Tad’s heart thudded insanely fast. He crept a few inches forward until he had cleared the pillar with his gaze. Lili had her back to him, shielding her subject, but he got a very healthy view of shapely legs inadequately covered by something red and soft-looking.
“You know, if you ever felt comfortable enough to go bare, I’d love to photograph you.”
Jules snorted. “I can see Jack’s face now.”
His cousin laughed. “We could insist he put it up in the dining room at Sarriette. He’d be so torn between wanting to encourage my art and being totally skeeved out.”
Girly giggles ensued.
My wild days are behind me,” Jules said on the downside of a laugh. “You wouldn’t believe some of the shenanigans I got up to back in London.” He heard her breathy sigh of reminiscence and strained to hear what salacious details might follow. This London version of Jules sounded like a woman he’d like to know.
“Oh, yeah? Spill, girl.”
“Well, there was one time I jumped in a fountain and stripped down to my—”
“Hey, cuz,” Lili said to him, a sly smile quirking one corner of her mouth. “How long have you been there?”
He patted the pillar he had just been leaning against/hiding behind like they were great pals. “Just got here.”
Lili’s smile turned slyer. “Didn’t expect you.”
“Do I need an excuse to come see my favorite cousin?” It came out a touch testy.
“Not at all. I just thought you’d be busy stroking your Cabs and Pinots.”
“Only do that on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Should I leave?”
“No, we’re just finishing up.” Lili sat at her iMac and hooked up the camera with a cable.
“All right?” Jules asked, almost shyly, as though they barely knew each other and in a way it felt like he was looking at her anew. The dress she wore was one he hadn’t seen before, a cherry-red, draped affair. One of those wrap-around deals that separated her breasts and flared over her waist. Not especially sexy but…
In that dress, she looked like she should be running the PTA, then going down on her husband in the Subaru in the school parking lot. Thankfully, that was years off because Evan was just an ankle biter… unless she hooked up with some lonely widower who already had school-age kids. Damn, that was a real possibility. He bet those websites were crawling with lonely widower fathers.
He was having problems catching his breath, a hitch that extended to his cock, which suddenly needed breathing room. To be perfectly honest, if Lili wasn’t there, he would be seriously considering unwrapping that dress and exploring the finely curved gift underneath. Jules stared back, probably wondering why he was ogling her like a just-released convict who hadn’t seen a woman during his fifteen and a third in the clink.
“Hey,” he said, finally responding to her greeting of about ten minutes back. He diverted his eyes away from her breasts to a good twelve inches north. Women 101. They preferred when you looked at their faces.
“Getting your photo taken?” he mumbled in a clear case of graduating summa cum laude from the School of the Freaking Obvious. His IQ had just dipped a hundred points.
“Uh huh. For my profile.” She blushed, and that’s when he noticed that she was wearing a lot of eye make-up. The smoky, sexy eyes that you saw on magazine models. She had done something different with her hair, too. It was tousled, fuck-me hair.
“My glamour shot, as Lili calls it,” she said with an eye roll. Can you believe what they’re trying to make me do?
His body clenched and he willed it to relax. Her glamour shot. She may as well have painted a sign: Come All Takers, Get Your Hot Mama Here. Lord knew he was trying to stop staring at her but he couldn’t tear his eyes away from all those damn curves.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
“No,” he snapped, and then softer, “It’s all good.”
“I’ll just get changed,” she muttered, swaying away to the cover of an ornamental screen in the corner.
He blinked to get his brain in the groove and made inane chitchat with Lili about the plans for Tony and Frankie’s wedding anniversary party. If his parents had still been here it would have also been their anniversary. The couples had married in a double wedding extravaganza thirty-five years ago. He shoved that to the back of his mind with the rest of the shit he had succeeded in burying.
He was an absolute expert at it by now.
Jules walked out from behind the screen, pulling up the zip of her sweatshirt, but not so fast that he missed the sweet swell of her breasts in something thin and stretchy. Come on!
“Could I see how it came out?” she asked Lili as she set a suit bag over a chair.
“Sure.” His cousin clickity-clicked her screen.
Tad stole another glance at Jules. He couldn’t not look at her. A pearly pink glow had washed her cheeks and she looked so damn fine, he wanted to lick every inch of her. He turned back to the screen and what he saw wasn’t much better.
She looked fucking gorgeous.
Well, she always looked gorgeous, whether she was in baggy sweats or a frayed tee that had seen better days. Even when she looked like she was falling asleep on her feet, she never failed to look amazing to him.
Now she looked amazing to the world.
