Elliana Allbright’s custom-made perfume shop and the Enchanted Garden behind it are garnering all sorts of attention, but a dead body could bury her in bad publicity. . . .
Ellie’s business and personal
life have been flourishing in her hometown of Poppyville, California, since she
opened Scents & Nonsense. She uses her very special skills to craft
perfumes that almost magically ease heartache, inspire change, and bring
joy—and her customers love to relax in the beautiful garden behind her shop
with her corgi, Dash, and her cat, Nabokov. She even lives right next to the
garden, in a compact “tiny house”—and she’s excited to hear that a journalist
is going to write a feature about her home and garden for a national magazine.
But then the journalist is found dead, and suspicion falls on the last person to see him—who just happens to be Ellie’s brother’s girlfriend. So before everything goes to seed, Ellie must rely on her powers—observational and otherwise—to pick out the real killer from an ever-expanding bouquet of culprits. . . .

Enchanting
fits this story perfectly. It draws you in and holds you captive as you wish
there was a town with residents like this that you could live in.
Author
Bailey Cattrell has created a cast of characters that are intriguing and quirky.
They keep you guessing what will happen next all the while you wish they were
your neighbors. The small-town atmosphere is realistic and inviting. The vivid
descriptions bring the town and people to life before your eyes.
There’s a
good blend of suspense and mystery mixed with friendship and loyalty for a
well-balanced story. There are touches of magic and tidbits of humor throughout
the story.
NIGHTSHADE
FOR WARNING will keep you on your toes and guessing who the killer is until the

If Elliana was to set up shop near me, I would beat a path to her door.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great and I will have to track it down. When my unread tower is diminished. Thank you.
I've never even heard of custom perfume before.
ReplyDeleteI've been in a few shops like this, Mason. They really are interesting, and I can see how it would be a great context for a mystery. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere's a little Corgi on the cover - my best friend has always had Corgis.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a body spray that was just for me.
A custom perfume which would suit me would be wonderful after all the ills with which I have suffered for over five years. I love the sweet cover.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a charming mystery that keeps you guessing until the end!
ReplyDeleteIn 1992 I went to Disney World and visited the France Pavilion. I went into the perfumery and was able to create my own scent...with their base, I added gardenia with a splash of vanilla. It was delightful, unfortunately internet had yet to permeate our buying practices, so I was unable to reorder this scent, but it was marvelous while it lasted...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fun read. I think I'll go find the first in the series, too.
