One Dirty Bowl on Tour

One Dirty Bowl coverIt’s a pleasure to be participating in author Christina Dymock’s virtual blog tour featuring her latest release, ONE DIRTY BOWL: Fast Desserts, Faster Cleanup.

I’m sharing my thoughts on the cookbook and a bit of background on the author as part of the tour.

ONE DIRTY BOWL: Fast Desserts, Faster Cleanup by Christina Dymock

The joy of cooking is sometimes overshadowed by the messy cleanup that follows. Author Christina Dymock has a simple solution for that problem in her recent release, ONE DIRTY BOWL: Fast Desserts, Faster Cleanup. This delightful cookbook makes creating desserts simple and fun, but the cleanup hassle-free.

All the dishes in this 136-page book require only one bowl in order to prepare the decadent desserts. Fewer dishes to cleanup, more time to enjoy the delicious rewards. To make things even better, several of the dishes require no baking. The author also includes baking tips with a number of the recipes.

The cookbook is divided into chapters entitled: Small and Scrumptious; Beautiful Brownies and Bars; Decadent Dessert Breads; Enticing Cookies; and Divine Sweets, Charming Cakes, Cupcakes, Cobblers and Pies. There is also a measurement equivalent chart. The book contains such recipes as: Paper Bag Cookies, Elvis’s Kisses, Blueberry Ribbon Cake, and Butter Rum Bread.

The layout of the recipes is done in a pleasing manner giving quick reference to the ingredients needed and the serving size. In addition, the book contains numerous color photo of various sizes depicting the end results of many of the appealing recipes. Some recipes also include variations.

Preparing the recipes in only one bowl is less time consuming. To add to the convenience, a number of the recipes lists only two to four ingredients for yummy desserts in a rush. ONE DIRTY BOWL is about providing delicious desserts in a quick and easy method with a minimum of cleanup time – a treat for the entire family.

  1. Cleanup is always a bummer. One bowl to clean sounds good to me.

    1. Alex, the cleanup process is what I dislike most. The one bowl method makes it easy to prepare desserts and cleanup.

  2. that is the most wonderful idea for a cookbook! Most of my recipes don't need many dishes either :) and I'm famous for recipes which, with small changes, give two, three or four different sweets :)

    3. Dez, those recipes sounds delicious. I wouldn't have thought about using sunflower oil in a cake. I'll have to give these a try, thanks.

    4. in my country we only use sunflower oil because my Vojvodina is one of the biggest producers of it and we don't really eat and use butter since it is awfully expensive here. Sunflower oil has no aroma so you can use it in any sweet recipes too

    5. You remind me how we forget to be thankful for so much here in America, just like butter. We take it for granted.

  3. Hi Mason .. I guess with four kids and a husband she does other cleaning up?! Actually she looks very efficient - and so I can imagine her one bowl dessert mix-up is a great way to go ...

I sometimes can't be bothered to make things because of the pain of washing up afterwards .. but as I'm on my own I don't need to worry much ... I do use fresh veg and fruits and eat good food ... but can imagine Christina's book will sell well - just makes so much sense .. cheers Hilary

    1. Hilary, there have been recipes that I would have loved to have tried but looking at what all had to be done, I changed my mind. If the cleanup process takes too long, then the food really isn't worth it to me. Glad you're using the fresh veg and fruits.

  6. I enjoy baking, but not the cleaning up afterwards. I've adjusted some of my recipes so that I only have to use one bowl for the whole recipe. Talk about easier clean up! This cookbook sounds great. Thanks for sharing about it.
