A shy soul and an adventurous heart. As the holidays approach, can they find happiness together?

Maria Anne Davis was on her way to an exciting career as a chef in Dallas, until a terrible car accident left her blind. Ever resilient, Maria has reinvented her life on her own terms, starting a business out of her home kitchen, selling her jams and jellies to the local grocery.
Maria loves romance novels, and despite her bold spirit, she fears she’ll never have a big love affair like ones her heroines experience. That is, until she realizes how much she cares about the quiet Wes Whitman, the owner of the grocery.
Wes can’t keep Maria’s wildly popular jam on his shelves—just like he can’t keep the fierce, beautiful Maria out of his thoughts. But how could a firecracker like Maria come to love a shy, nervous man like him? Maybe all they need is a grand affair. Wes needs to convince Maria that some affairs last forever, though—just in time for Christmas.

Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Jodi as she joins us to talk about her latest release. Welcome, Jodi.

Often when I write a book there is a story that I didn’t have time to tell. A person who didn’t get their happy ever after ending.

Maria, Dakota’s sister in INDIGO LAKE, was that person. I wanted to see her with her own story.

The fact that Maria is blind is only a part of the story.  For one time, one moment, she wants to feel alive. She sets out to make her dream come true. In her mind she can’t see forever, but she’s daydreamed of having an affair with the kind storekeeper she talks to every week. Since her accident she’s never felt fully alive, so she decides to give herself a gift for Christmas.

An affair with Wes Whitman. Even if it only lasts one night, she’ll have a memory to keep. Only, he wants far more. Wes wants forever.

I look forward to my readers stepping into the familiar setting of Crossroads, Texas, and celebrating Christmas with Maria and Wes.

Last month I stepped back into Crossroads with book Seven! The good news is that A CHRISTMAS AFFAIR should be included in the back of Book Seven in Fall 2018!

Enjoy A CHRISTMAS AFFAIR and know that there will be more to come.

Thanks for joining us today Jodi and sharing about Maria and her story.

  1. Congratulations Jodi.
And yes, I do love a book/series where minor characters later find their own voice and tell their compelling stories.

  2. I like those types of spinoff stories and I think they resonate with readers, too. The air outside was chilly this morning when I got the paper--I started thinking about the holidays! Seeing this book puts me in the Christmas spirit (a bit early! I guess I'll just start with my shopping).

  3. I think it's fascinating when a character finds her or his own voice and ends up 'starring' in another story. And this sounds like a great premise for a love story. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Sounds like a delightful holiday romance from the wonderfully talented Jodi Thomas! Yes, I absolutely adore those charming supporting players who leave their tracks on your reader's memory. When they are further developed and become leading characters with their own starring roles, the result is usually a great read!
