I’m delighted today to be participating in author Dawn Clark’s Boutique of Quality Books (BQB) Publishing virtual book tour for her recent release, SQUIGGLY GETS GLASSES.
This is a delightful tale that will inspire youngsters. It’s a story about a squirrel whose life changes when he gets glasses. But first, let me introduce Dawn and then I’ll share my thoughts on this cute book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Dawn Clark’s love of reading began when her Grandma Kate gave her an illustrated children’s Bible—a love she passes on to children in her work as an educational aide and librarian. She loves reading to children and seeing their faces light up when characters rise above obstacles, accomplish their goals, or just do something funny.
Dawn spent many hours with her own children, Cory and Katie, reading books every night at bedtime and making up stories all day long, which included naming the squirrels scampering around a maple tree in their backyard. With her two children now in college, Dawn has transformed those cherished family memories into the story of SQUIGGLY GETS GLASSES.
Dawn lives in Massillon, Ohio, with her husband Tim, and when she’s not writing, she can be found taking walks, riding her bike, and spending quality time with her family. Dawn is a member of a writers’ group and is working on Squiggly’s next exciting adventures.
SQUIGGLY GETS GLASSES by Dawn Clark
Squiggly the Squirrel has friends but he’s different and doesn’t fit in well with all the other squirrels. Archie, the class bully, is always making fun of Squiggly’s small tail and big ears causing the others to laugh at him. Squiggly fears things will get worse when he finds out he needs glasses.
After Squiggly picks out his glasses, however, his attitude changes and life at school gets better. He even learns how to deal with Archie.
Author Dawn Clark has made getting glasses a fun thing in this charming children’s story. Her characters are imaginative, but deal with real problems youngsters can relate to.
The beautiful illustrations by Delphine Lacas bring the story to life. The bold colorful drawings will capture readers’ attention and re-enforce the message of the story.
SQUIGGLY GETS GLASSES is an inspiring story that encourages youngsters to be themselves and understand that being different isn’t a bad thing.
This delightful tale will quickly become a favorite for bedtime reading.

Very cute book! Yes, eyeglasses have definitely been a challenge. First, my daughter really wanted them--as an accessory. But when her vision *did* go downhill, she didn't want them anymore! (We chose contact lenses). Sigh. Love the illustrations.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday 13! Be careful out there. :)
Mason - I have so much respect for those who write books that draw young readers in and help them too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's still awkward although nice of her to put a positive spin on it. I never enjoyed them (I wear contacts now) but I did appreciate being able to see the blackboard.
ReplyDeleteit really does sound most delightful! I wear glasses and adore wearing them and would never stop even if somebody cures my eyes totally :)
ReplyDeleteCute cover. Sounds like a great book for kids.
