SYNOPSIS:

The true story about seven ordinary women and one extraordinary event....

Summer is coming, and the residents in Joplin, Missouri, anticipate the rush of freedom and activities that will follow: graduation, summer classes, vacations, overflowing gardens, family time, and plenty of photo opportunities.
What they don't anticipate is the mile-wide tornado that will devastate the town on May 22, 2011, in the middle of dinner preparations, visits to friends and family, and graduation ceremonies. The tornado kills over a hundred in the deadliest tornado disaster in the modern era and leaves thousands more homeless.
In the face of this tragedy, seven women must gather their courage and hold their families together. Each will make different choices to protect loved ones and strangers and recover from the winds of destruction.

If you have ever worried when a storm blows up, you’ll find inspiration and hope in author Tamara Hart Heiner’s story about the deadly tornado that struck Joplin, MO, in 2011.

Narrator Jennifer Gilmour does a great job quickly pulling you into the story. Her tone and temp are engaging. Her interruption of the story enhances the spirit of the message.

The story begins with background on the various levels of tornadoes and other weather-related material. While you may think this information makes the story start off slow, just know these facts are important and very vital to the story. Trust me, you will learn things that will help you better understand the destructive nature of storms.

This is an inspiring story of hope over loss, compassion over indifference, love over heartache, and triumph over tragedy. This is a story that will touch your heart in many ways.

These are true stories of how people faced this unimaginable tragedy and survived to persevere. This is a story you won’t be able to put down or turn off until the last sentence.

  1. Worrying is one of my talents, but our storms are usually sound and fury and little more (no tornadoes or cyclones here).
I do love hearing about real people. Inspirational and awe inspiring.
