Writing children's characters isn't easy, and some people are uncomfortable with having child characters in romance novels. That happens with crime fiction novels, too. But children do add a dose of realism to a novel and readers do have to deal with the realities of raising their children and everything else they're doing. So they can identify with characters who have to do that, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6582932888892465523.post-52497467701253514092011-01-25T07:33:32.273-05:002011-01-25T07:33:32.273-05:00Nice post, Mason and Sophie!

I have heard romance readers comment on kids in romances before and was surprised it was such an issue. I guess kids destroy the fantasy a little? Ha! But they sure add a dose of realism that I'd think would add some real gravitas to a romance (in a good way.)Elizabeth Spann Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15625595247828274405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6582932888892465523.post-28415408117199805532011-01-25T02:50:21.152-05:002011-01-25T02:50:21.152-05:00Oooh, this sounds like my kind of novel.

Its natural, to me, to portray them in novels, and especially romance and women's fiction.

......dholedolorahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08715849844092553699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6582932888892465523.post-83648895763868121922011-01-25T02:19:09.186-05:002011-01-25T02:19:09.186-05:00Sophie, thanks again for stopping by and talking w...Sophie, thanks again for stopping by and talking with us about kids in romance novels.
