A Familiar Tail {+ Giveaway}

The magical feeling you get from reading shines through in A FAMILIAR TAIL by Delia James.

The first installment in the author’s new Witch’s Cat Mystery series, this book quickly draws readers in and holds them spellbound. The characters are enchanting and the setting is inviting.

Annabelle Amelia Blessingsound Britton goes to visit her best friend, Martine Devereux, chef of The Pale Ale Inn in Portsmouth, NH. Anna, a freelance artist and illustrator, doesn’t realize she’s returning to a town her grandmother, Annabelle Mercy Blessingsound Britton, once lived in.

A smoky gray cat named Alistair leads Anna to a charming cottage where she discovers a witch’s wand and herself in the middle of a problem. It seems Anna’s grandmother was once a member of a group of witches who try to keep Portsmouth safe. The group now wants Anna’s help. The unusual death of Alistair’s former owner and mysterious occurrences have Anna giving her talents a try to help save the town from an evil killer.

The author places the reader in the middle of the action with her rich descriptions and an eye for details. The characters are intriguing and likable. Anna is a strong protagonist who readers can relate to through her moments of self-doubt.

The story flows at a steady pace and keeps you guessing. Twists and turns along the way as the story unfolds enhances the tale.

A FAMILIAR TAIL is a delightful beginning to what promises to be a fascinating new series. Filled with mystery, magic, suspense, humor, a touch of romance and lots of good friendship, you won’t be able to put this book down once you start reading.
