Thanks so much for stopping by today. Do are you familiar with pulp fiction (not the movie)? Do you like to read books that transform you to another era just by their looks and/or sounds?

I want to share the following with you that appears on Amazon about this book. I found it interesting and hope you do too.

“In his early twenties, Hubbard led the two-and-a-half-month, five-thousand-mile Caribbean Motion Picture Expedition. He followed that with the West Indies Mineralogical Expedition near San Juan, Puerto Rico, in which he completed the island’s first mineralogical survey as an American territory. It was during these two journeys that Hubbard became an expert on the Caribbean’s colorful history—an expertise he drew on to write stories like Under the Black Ensign.”

  3. I can't get over the man's religious credentials. Prejudiced of me, but true. And somehow pirates and swashbuckling tales don't sit comfortablly with Scientology in my head.

  4. I love audiobooks. I have an Audible membership. Not sure about L. Ron Hubbard after enduring Battlefield Earth at the theater back when it came out. I'm currently going through all of Ann Rule's books--she did a crime series that's all true crime stories. Just my type of thing!

  5. Thanks for sharing, Mason. It's easy to forget that Hubbard wrote fiction that wasn't always science fiction.
