The Highlander on Tour {+ Giveaway}

Highlander12 tag endorsement bold copy3 (2)I’m delighted today to be participating in author Terry Spear’s IndieSage PR Virtual Book Tour for her release, THE HIGHLANDER, the fifth installment in her The Highlanders series.

I’m sharing my thoughts on this tantalizing romance and Terry is sharing an excerpt from her book. In addition, she is hosting a tour-wide giveaway were five lucky readers will win an audio version of HIGHLANDER RAKE, the third installment in this series. Please see the end of the post for more details.

First an excerpt and a bit of background on Terry.

AN EXCERPT:

She thought he looked weary, despite his having slept in her cottage for however long it had been. She was about to mention taking a look at his injury, when he asked, “Who was the man who came to visit you earlier?”
Certainly not her rescuer. Though she was glad he hadn't had to fight Niall. She wouldn't have wanted her friend harmed. “Matthew.”
“And?” Niall's tone was somewhat condescending, and she didn't like it one bit.
      “And what?” she asked, irritated.
      “What were his intentions?”
She glowered at him. “What do you mean?” She knew what the Highlander was getting at, but she didn't feel a need to defend Matthew's honor. She scooped up the chunks of day-old meat and threw them into the simmering broth.
“I mean, that a young woman, such as yourself, shouldna be seeing a man like that without a proper chaperone.”
“’Tis none of your concern.” Anora noticed him stiffen a little and the look of disdain on his face. She added, “His intentions are honorable if ‘tis any of your business, but what of yours?”
Niall was the one she had to worry about. The Highlander with the hot-blooded gaze and the heated touch. Matthew had never been more than just a friend. If he'd ever looked at her or touched her the way this man had, she might have been married to him already. She shook her head at the very notion.
“If my purpose was other than honorable, you would have known about it long before this.” A hint of teasing shown in his eyes as Niall's mouth curved marginally.
Her traitorous heart did a little leap. “You are leaving after supper, are you not?” He could not mean to stay any longer than that.

Now my thoughts ………

THE HIGHLANDER by Terry Spear

I’ve often thought the only thing that could make one of author Terry Spear’s books better would be to hear it read by someone with the accent of the country it is set in.

Narrator Rosaline Ashford proves my point in Spear’s THE HIGHLANDER. Ashford does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. Her accents and mannerisms enhances this delightful story.

Spear has a way of placing the reader/listener in not only the area she’s writing about, but also the time period. Her eye for detail and vivid descriptions surround you as the story envelopes you. Her characters are realistic and captivating holding your attention until the end.

Sent on a mission to locate a Frenchwoman of nobility and escort her to Craigly Castle for safety, Niall MacNeill and his friend, Gunnolf, encounter another Highland clan also seeking the woman. The other clan, however, wants to sell the woman to the highest bidder. Following a battle with the others, Niall and Gunnolf are separated. Niall takes refuge in a sheepherder’s cottage to rest and heal.

The sheepherder turns out to be Anora, a shepherdess, who enjoys living alone and doesn’t like Highlanders. She does tend to his wounds and offers him shelter for the night. As he learns more about her, Niall believes he has found the woman he was seeking. He must take her to the castle for her own safety, but will he lose his heart and happiness in the process?

Spear creates a strong-willed heroine with a feisty outlook and a tender heart. She combines that with a sexy Highlander, perils of danger, a touch of mystery, a dash of humor, and a steamy romance for a well-balanced story.

The story flows smoothly and quickly keeping readers/listeners spellbound. THE HIGHLANDER is the fifth book in the Highlanders series, but can be read on its own. This is an intriguing and amusing tale of romance with a touch of chivalry.

    1. Me too. In history, there were several, and so my women area always strong-willed. No wilting flowers among them. :) She might be a damsel in distress, but she oftentimes rescues the hero as much as he rescues her.
