Mint Juleps and Justice by Nancy Naigle

Mint Juleps and Justice coverMINT JULEPS AND JUSTICE is a good combination of suspenseful mystery and spicy romance.

Narrator Shannon McManus does a wonderful job giving voice to the various characters. Her cadence holds you spellbound at the right moments and has you breathless at other times. Her interruption of the characters gives depth to the author’s work.

Trying to get away from her soon-to-be ex who won’t leave her alone, Brooke Justice moves to Adams Grove for a fresh start. When someone breaks into her home and puts her dog at risk, Brooke turns to a local private investigator for help. What she wasn’t expecting was how she’s drawn to the sexy P.I.

Former Marine Mike Hartman is trying to settle back into civilian life. He’s busy with his new P.I. business and involved in training pups for military service. Still trying to come to grips with the loss of his wife several years ago, the last thing Mike wants is to have feelings for his new beautiful client.

Author Nancy Naigle does a wonderful job creating two compelling backstories and then bringing them together. She weaves together a tale of mystery and suspense sprinkled with a good dose of humor and romance. The characters are likable and realistic.

The setting has that small-town charm and feeling of friendship. The author’s vivid descriptions enhances the story, placing the reader/listener in the middle of the action. While some of the actions may be anticipated, the author makes sure there are a few surprises along the way.

This is the fifth installment in the Adams Grove series, but can be read/listened to as a stand-alone story. MINT JULEPS AND JUSTICE is a delightful combination mystery and romance perfect for a summer read/listen.
