The book I have to share today is a cozy mystery with a bit of paranormal and humor blended in.
OUTWITTED, A SADIE WITT MYSTERY by Beth Solheim
Who knew watching over the dead could be so exhausting and dangerous.
Sadie Witt is a death coach, a very serious job for a lady who tackles life in a way many wish we could. She goes at life on her own terms and with a great zest for living.
Sadie’s job is to help the dead who have unresolved issues find closure so they can cross over.
Sadie and her twin sister, Jane, own and operate the Witt’s End Resort in Northern Minnesota. Jane feels left out because Sadie can see the dead and she can’t. Sadie also has a death coach apprentice, young Aanders Harren, the son of the local funeral director. The Harren Funeral Home sits on the edge of the resort property.
When Jed Perry turns up at Witt’s End dressed in his hospital gown, Sadie must help him resolve the case of his missing sister before he can cross over. Then 5-year-old Sally Tyler shows up to add to the confusion. Sadie has to not only guide her in crossing over, but help her to understand that she’s dead.
Throw into the mix a devious and underhanded judge, a couple who specialize in infant abductions, a buried body under on of the resort's cabins, and the return of Aanders’ estranged and useless father and you have the makings of a laugh-out-loud mystery. OUTWITTED will keep you entertained from beginning to end.
Author Beth Solheim has created a cast of charming and lovable characters that are zany and delightful. An example is Sadie. She’s not your typical 64-year-old. She has an asp tattooed on her stomach, wears thongs with short skirts, and her hair color changes with her kaleidoscopic outfits. What’s not to love?
OUTWITTED is the second installment in the Sadie Witt Mystery series, but is a stand alone book. Sadie and the gang make crossing over an adventure filled with humor and mystery you don’t want to miss.

Mason - Thanks for this review :-). You know, I'm normally not one for ghosts and other paranormal elements in books. Still, this one sounds interesting. I think what I like about it is that it's an interesting premise.

ReplyDeleteI think a resort for ghosts is a most clever idea for a book. I used to like this cartoon about a home for discarded imaginary childhood freinds. called Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.
